EE Session 1

Jailhouse Blues¶

The party, consisting of Scrap-E (Auton Warlock), Blerg (Plamoid Orimancer), Steven (Fair Psion), and two others TBA, awoke in an intake jail cell in Astryth. Though all were strangers, there was a group effort to try and get out of the cell and, to a much lesser degree, help one of the other cellmates, who appeared very ill.

One of the other cell mates was clearly an insane old man (Elaric). He kept talking to himself, often shouting “you don’t know where I’ve been!” and breaking out into sea shanties. Elaric had a particular fondness for Show Me the Way to Go Home, which he sang in turns both frantic and playful. He seemed to be known to the city watch and treated with a certain amount of deference.

During the intake process the sick woman (Callista) died a violent and unnatural death. Her body exploded into a seething mass of flesh, sinew, and bone that somehow still moved of its own accord. The cell mates, wisely deciding not to fight with their jailors, were all hurriedly moved to the basement cells by the head guard (Gar Karenikos) while the watch commander (Eryn Kell) and other guards engaged the flesh blob.

The party members were shoved, along with Elaric, into a large cell at the end of the corridor. There they discovered that the sewer drain had been tampered with, providing a possible avenue of escape. An occupant of a neighboring cell – Drax – had made a deal with Gar to escape in exchange for some sort of service to Gar. Drax pleaded with the party to help him get out or to get Gar’s attention, but was interrupted by the cries of guards being murdered by some sort of tentacled and ravenous creature that seems to have emerged from what was formerly the body of the woman Callista.

The party chose to abandon the rest of the prisoners (including Elaric, who seemed thoroughly entertained by everything that was happening) and escape down the sewer drain. Steven dragged the sewer grate back over them just as the sound of a fireball exploded over their heads.
